The PC I do most of my development on was not ordered by me and it came with a Samsung SyncMaster 173v (flat-panel display). Its my first Samsung display so I have no reference as to how good or bad they may be but mine is definitely NOT working correctly. I am running multiple monitors (two), one is a CRT and the other I've already mentioned and its the primary monitor. Here's the problem: It stops being recognized by the PC. If I unplug until it displays a "no signal" message then reconnect it (usually) works again. The correct driver is installed (came with it) and I'm at a loss as to what to attempt to correct the problem. When I right click the desk top and choose properties->settings->advanced->displays it shows both monitors to be CRT (the flat panel display box is disabled). Any suggestions? I should mention that I'm running windows XP Pro on a 3GHz cpu w/ 1 GRam and I have a heat problem that I'm also working on (machine shuts down periodically which can be extremely painful) but due to a severe adherence to my procrastincation philosophy it might still take awhile before I fix it. I'm replacing my development machine with a Dell in a couple weeks and am going to take this one home with me so I would really like to fix the problems as while I can deal with them in a work environment they will be completely intolerable and unacceptable when I'm goofing off. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, one last thing. While I do develop systems for a living I do NOT develop PC based systems and am therefore much the dope when it comes to my own computer so please don't take for granted I'll know what you are talking about(ie. spell it out if you can) thanks -mel --------------------------------------------- It's amazine how simeple life can be when one get's his head out of his ass...embly If they don't get the basic research and learning skills down then they'll end up having a very hard life (Either that or they'll become managers) - Micheal P Butler

I'm going to take a wild guess, but it sounds like there is some power saving feature enabled somewhere on it or in Windows. Doesn't Samsung have a Tech. Support number?

It sounds like u have an ATI card by the sound of the CP setup, my experience is that when the monitor is turned off it looks disabled, but clicking the button (top left) will be clickable. Hope it helps.
