    Does anyone know of any effective FREE software that rebuilds the MBR for a Win98 disk. I know of Partition Table Doctor. But the demo version does not save the changes. I tried DiskPatch too , again its the Demo version problem ! constant constipation in constantinople

      IIRC, MaxBlast[^] can do stuff like that. I used it when I worked in a tech bay for a while a long time ago and I remember we used it to recover an MBR that was corrupted by a virus...or something like that. I haven't used it in many years, though.

        Boot to a DOS disk and enter in the following: fdisk /MBR
