      Why? Many applications already do this easily by basically reducing the red channel (perhaps decreasing other channels slightly) and blending (blur, whatever) it with the surroundings. I'm not sure how the shutterfly web site works exactly, but you could detect two elliptic areas within a certain distance of each other with a higher red channel than its surroundings and do the same thing as the applications I mentioned are doing.
