How many people plan on buying google stock during its initial offering? Vote 1 if you don't plan on buying any and 5 if you plan on selling the farm to buy as much as posible. Vote 2, 3, or 4 for anything in between.

I didn't think the average Joe could buy IPO stock.

I don't think I'll invest in them. They're too easy a target for Microsoft to take out - just integrate Microsoft MSN search or whatever they'll call it into Windows and IE. As long as Windows and IE remain the de facto standard, Google may end up going the way of Netscape. --------------------------- He who knows that enough is enough will always have enough. -Lao Tsu

According to my favourite market pundit, Mickey Clarke on Radio 5 Live. Google isn't exactly a good buy. Mind you he never was a big fan of Internet stocks. Michael CP Blog [^]

Why not ? Its a little risky but thats where the money is. Richard "The man that hath not music in himself and is not moved with concord of sweet sounds is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils; Let no man trust him." Shakespeare

The rules may be different in the USA, but I've bought IPO stock in 3 (British) companies so far and I was given some (as I was a member of a demutualising Building Society) from the Abbey National.

Google is trying something unusual to hopefully get stock into more non speculator hands - using an "open auction" see Full Story[^] Steve

i dont think im gonna jump in at initial offer, but we'll see what happens as google succumbs to the pressures of wall street idiots... Imagine our country if Engineers ran the show... ;P ~Nitron.

Too risky. Although, perhaps it would be a good stock to short in a couple of months. Man, if I had shorted RHAT in Jan. of 2000 and then bought the stocks back in Sept. of 2001 I'd be rich! Of course, shorting is very risky too :~

Good points. When you invest you need to attempt to fortell the future. Eg what's likely to happen in 2-5 yrs time. The ammount of people MS is throwing at its search stuff is scary for any Imternet type search providers. Regardz Colin J Davies
