Has anyone been there on a vacation or does anyone live in/around Aspen? We are planning on a romantic getaway someplace and I was wondering if Aspen would be a good time during the first week of June. Is it ok to stay in Snowmass and drive to Aspen? I've heard that public transportation is encouraged in Aspen and its surrounding areas..is that true? I'd really appreciate it if anyone could write to us about their experiences. Regards, Tiruvan

I live in Denver but I get to Aspen/Vail every summer. If you like mountain biking or other outdoor activities it is really great. We have not had as much snow this year so I would suggest to get here early if you want any rafting.
Kevin, Thanks for the information. We are really not interested in any of the outdoor activities. Its more of a honeymoon :). Right now I am in a dilemna between staying for 4 full days in Aspen vs. staying in denver and visiting aspen for a day etc. Regards, Tiruvan

I took my Honeymoon in CO. We stayed in Boulder, Estes Park and Co. Springs. It was a great trip, but we did a lot of outdoors stuff.

If you like downtown there is the Brown Palace, which is pretty nice depending on how much you want to spend. Denver has the lightrail that lets you get from Littleton (next to a nice park along the Platte River which is really nice in the evenings this time of year) to Denver using public transportation so you can stay at a variety of hotels and still get the nightlife and attractions in the downtown area. It is clean and safe. There is also trains to the winter park resort so you can get up to the mountains or you can get a rental car and hit the casinos on the way. Depending on when you show up you may be able to catch a concert at the Pepsi Center and there are a wide variety of decent restaurants close by.
