Military service in USA...mandatory?

The military is voluntary in the US. They will only take those who want to serve.

No. 18 year-old males must register with the Selective Service[^], but (as of now) service is voluntary.

Nope, however guys do have to register with the selective service so if the need for a draft were to occur one could be implemented (yeah the feminists who want "equality" should be complaining that they don't have to register but frankly I'm not suprised that don't want that particular equality). Not to start a flamewar or anything but I think that the last thing you want is a mixed-gender army. (yes I know that there are women in the army - cfr private England hehe - but not in battle positions).
