sighist || Agile Programming | doxygenCan you imagine a scenario within German politics where a PM running for re-election would be publicly insulted in such a graphic manner at an official gathering of an opposing party? "President Bush has promised he's going to establish elections in Iraq, he's going to rebuild the infrastructure and he's going to create jobs. And he said if it works there, he'll try it here." No, because german elections are boring stupid, not puiblicity shows anyway (and I don't know which is better). I've seen democrats stuff about republicans, I've seen rep staff about dems, the only difference here that in my youth this would have been a non-no because a) it`s a public event, and b) a person like Whoopie would be expected to be a better role model. But that's been a few years...

Oh good heavens me, sex! Can't have the leaders knowing about such vile and sinful acts eh. Don't want the next generation being wisely brought up, far better we keep them as repressed as the current generation. Jeez, these are adults, we are adults, you want a sheet with a hole in it for the would-be president? You lord having left Europe behind with American progress but emotionally and socially I think you have regresed. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Crikey! ain't life grand?
Can you tell me exactly how being more explicit about sex is considered social progression? Jeremy Falcon

And while the left is doing every thing it can to sereptiously displace Jeffersonianism with a thinly disguised form of Marxism, those same principles yet survive thanks to the right. This contest remains one between Marx and Jefferson, regardless of the left's obfuscation of their true objectives. Stan Shannon wrote: I see little evidence of Jeffersonianism in any of the modern political insitutions any where in Europe and i'm not sure why you would expect to. but it's ridiculous to think that proto-Americans of the 1770's were trying to repudiate Europe of 2004. they were rebelling against things that were happening in their own times, not against what they thought Europe would become in 200 years. in other words - Europe of today isn't the Europe of 1776. they fought their battle against the enemies of their time, not ours. Stan Shannon wrote: And while the left is doing every thing it can to sereptiously displace Jeffersonianism with a thinly disguised form of Marxism, those same principles yet survive thanks to the right. i'll say it again: the general public doesn't know a fucking thing about Marx or his ideas, so there's no way they can be advocating anything in his name. if some of the goals of the left kinda look like things Marx would've likley mocked as unproductive half-steps towards what he considered ideal, and even then only if you squint really hard, that doesn't mean the left is actually advocating Marxism. just like it would be ridiculous to claim that the right is advocating some kind of Randian Libertarian Utopia simply because they half-heartedly talk about getting government out of people's lives. Relax Paul, nobody is concerned with sex or even joking about it. If Whoopi Goldberg wants to hold a news conference or a show and insult Bush (or anyone else) in the most explicit method she can muster it is her business and I frankly wouldn't care. This was different. It was an official fundraiser for the Democratic party. Most Americans expect a certain amount of decorum from their leaders. In this case, they didn't get it from Kerry, Edwards or the Democrats in general. I don't remember lording about American progress so I will respectfully disagree. Why is it so difficult for you to understand that many Americans were raised to have different ideals and scruples from you. Not better, but not worse - just different. And if you can't accept that, I'd suggest you open your mind.
