Good going! Takes a lot of effort for sure! My sister used Lemon Drops. I know when I quit smoking back at August 22,1989 I put on 75 lbs before I figured out what was going on. There were problem times but the worse had to be the after meal smoke. It seemed like the meal was never over :) The Lemon Drops (candy) can really help if you put some in your pocket and use them when you feel the urge to smoke. Hi, I quit just over 6 months ago and have not had a smoke since. There is no single technique* to help other than your committment. Until you are completely committed to doing it it won't happen. *Drinking lot's of water, getting lot's of excercise does help though.

I thought that was common knowledge by now. :-D Also find out what "lots of water" means exactly. Some people find it very surprising how much they should be drinking. Even if you end up starting back smoking keep up the water and exercise.

Congratulations. That's a good (forced) decision. ;P Mr.Prakash wrote: Can any one suggest me with something to do when i feel like smoking. If you feel like smoking, look at these pictures[^]. It will keep you off smoking for a few months. (Caution: Those with weak heart do not attempt to view it.)

Good for you! Mr.Prakash wrote: Can any one suggest me with something to do when i feel like smoking. Personally I used chewing tobacco, or whatever it's called in English, when I quitted, but I doubt your girlfriend would appreciate that. ;) "After all it's just text at the end of the day. - Colin Davies "For example, when a VB programmer comes to my house, they may say 'does your pool need cleaning, sir ?' Exercise is effective for a lot of people. Take a walk, do some pushups or crunches, squeeze one of those spring thingies they make for tightening your grip. Kick the cat. Clean something around the house. Wash the car. Dance.:-D Good luck!:) "My kid was Inmate of the Month at Adobe Mountain Juvenile Corrections Center" - Bumper Sticker in Bullhead City

I've heard muscle mass, unlike fatty fat, actually consumes calories. It's doing well for me. Norman Fung
Muscle doesn't consume anything, unless you use it. Fat cells (adipose tissue) store calories that you consume but don't use, but those calories are available to provide the energy required to construct new muscle tissue from proteins that you consume. Mr.Prakash wrote: They say quiting smoking would make me gain weight, is it true I know a few people who quit smoking. Some gained weight, some didn't. Of those that did gain weight they admitted that the reason they did so was because they ate more crappy fast food to help them get over the cravings. So, as far as I['m concerned... it doesn't make you put on more weight. Eating more food does. Regards, Brian Dela :-) http://www.briandela.com IE 6 required.

I think you need to see a doctor, Mr. Prakash. You’ve got GFTMLJ syndrome (Girl-Friend-Treat-Me-Like-Jelly) ;P Just kidding. Quitting smoking was cool of you. I do smoke myself, but only occasionally and I don’t take the tobacco smoke as deep into my lungs as regular smokers do, so chances of Cancer are reduced compared to regular smokers. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out why you quit drinking, unless you were a thorough alcoholic. Casual drinking is not a risk to health and I believe I’ve read versions that state that it’s actually good for health and reduces chances of heart failure.

Don't try to justify it!!! It's a terrible habbit and not only bad for your own health but also bad for those around you. Passive smoking does kill. The smoking ban in all work places (including bars, restaurants etc) was the best thing that the current Irish government has done in their years of power :-D The medical profession has already reported a massive drop in the number of people comming into hospitals/medical practices with coughs, lung problems, etc and it's only been 5 months since the ban came into effect. In the long term they expect it will increase the average life expectancy by around 3-4 years (which is actually massive considering that only a small number of the population smoke)... and Ireland already has one of the highest life expectancies in the developed world (2nd highest I think :-)) Regards, Brian Dela :-) http://www.briandela.com IE 6 required.
