VS .NET beta
-
Well I just installed the VS .Net beta on a unused machine at work, and I was very curious to see the IDE in action. It looks just like Visual J++, but the thing that struck me, and I hope I did something wrong, but there is no way to make a C++ project with the new Win forms GUI builder ! It seems like the only way to do this is to use either C# or VB. Is this really correct ? If it is this is really a bummer. Why would MS do this ? What am I missing ?

Unfortunately, this is correct. Visual C++ does support WinForms, but you have to code it by hand. The designer won't come out until later. You're right Jim, there is no RAD form designer in VC++.NET. Capitolsoft is currently working on a .NET based form designer that *should* be available with the release of VS.NET. The designer will allow your existing MFC/WTL based RAD C++ controls to work seamlessly with .NET based MC++ controls.
