Thanks for the comments Gary. There's heavy usage of object pointers within my project, so I'll have to give SlickEdit a good stress test before committing. Tell me something, are you able to highlight a member variable and have it generate the get'ters and set'ters for you? I currently utilize VC++ 6.0; when running a project in debug mode, does it run within SlickEdit or does it switch over to an instance of Visual C++? Thanks again. I have macros that can generate setters and getters implementation stubs, In order to debug C++ within SlickEdit you have to compile with gcc If you'd like to have my macro packages go to http://www.wideopenwest.com/~gary\_ash/

Well what do you know! The IDE is not written in java! Woohoo! It's quite snappy too. I think I will try this one out a bit better and evaluate it "professionally". :) -- Ich bin Joachim von Hassel, und ich bin Pilot der Bundeswehr. Welle: Erdball - F104-G Starfighter

Hmm.. does that mean that people who claim that java IDE's are snappy, are living in slow motion...? :~ -- Ich bin Joachim von Hassel, und ich bin Pilot der Bundeswehr. Welle: Erdball - F104-G Starfighter

You have to try Eclipse. It's written entirely in Java, but the interface is based on the relatively new SWT gui classes. The gui now matches your OS and everything is very responsive. It feels like a native app. Jim QTExtender - The OFFICIAL addon for QuoteTracker.

I have tried it, but it's still jerky as any Java based editor. Java doesn't belong in real time applications (an editor is a soft real time application). I am not willing to give up snappiness for added value. Using a jerky editor all day is like listening to a scratched CD. In other words; it's damn annoying. :) -- Ich bin Joachim von Hassel, und ich bin Pilot der Bundeswehr. Welle: Erdball - F104-G Starfighter
