SciFi - pronounced "skiffy" - in television and movies, is a pale and sickly reflection of Science Fiction, its more mature cousin which thrives in books and periodicals such as Analog. The best "science fiction" series has not been made yet :'(.

It's called Stargate 'SG1' here in the States. I missed the 'AV1' joke, if there is one... please explain? And, BTW, I like it alot too :) -- Russell Morris Georgia Institute of Technology "Hello, I'm doctor stupid. I'm going to take out your liver bones!" - Ralph Wiggum

I agree completely. Startrek is sometimes watchable, but good SciFi - LOL. Even in movies, SciFi is seldom done well (2001,Blade Runner, Alien, and a few others, being, IMHO, exceptions). But we still have the books:)

Quite possibly the best SciFi series ever made. -Sean ---- Secrets of a happy marriage #28: Never fight unless you're naked.

I'm Sorry, I was a little confused. Is True is Stargate SG1 but in my country is Stargate AV1. Because SG is 'Star Gate' In Argentina the oficial Idiom is Spanish and is AV because is 'Astro Via' is the translate from 'Star Gate'. I lived in the State for 2 years, and there I saw the Serie, Here the complete name of the serie is 'Astro Via AV1', I made a mix between the names.:-O May be was this => Cheers!!! Without a doubt the best series every made was/is Babylon 5! yeah! I'm a TNG kind of a guy! but gotta admit, farscape is pretty good too. the SFX really rocks... as far as story lines go...the old star trek was at times good. but the SFX was horrible..course at that time there was no computers, no great CG.I remember one episode where apparently they put a kid(or a midget) under a frilly carpet(rug) and was meant to be some alien race. boy! even today my sister and I have a laugh about the 'rug episode'. the guy under there must have felt terribly hot! :-) I'm an alien, I'm an alien it's a beautiful life.... Star trek: I found the *later* episodes of DS9 best (the first being as colorless as the initial TNG's); and I prefer the "rug alien - kickass kirk" of the original Treks over many of the TNG's (especially Whorf-Alexander, or Troy episodes made me... spacesick) FarScape: Saw two episodes of it, looked too much like a "mix of everything to apeal everybody" Space 2063: Would have been greatest ever if it hadn't been *that* US american Peter

If you check the various B5 sites, you'll see that they're coming out with a made-for-TV movie next month on the SciFi channel. The plot is supposed to revolve around how the Rangers got started. It should be good! I just wish the Crusade series didn't get axed after one season. I actually enjoyed the arc JMS started, and would have liked to see it continue. -- Paul "I drank... WHAT?"
