Strategy Gaming
-
I would really like to get started computer-gaming. I have always been into strategy board games like Monopoly,Risc, Axis & Allies etc. These types of games unfortunately has the serious drawback, that you will have to interact with other people ;) I've tried various of the socalled "realtime strategy games", that seems to come out all the time - but it just stresses my slow brain to much, that they are - well - realtime. Most of the time you do not have to think in these games - you just have to be fast with the mouse. I also played BattleIsle for a while. They came pretty close to what I want, but they had a lot of stupid small videoclips interrupting the game, terrible AI, and the user interface *sucked* big time, since you would have to do everyting with the mouse and they only ran in low resolutions. Are anybody aware of a cool tour-based strategy game - preferebly with a net/LAN option for playing against humans? Christian Skovdal Andersen

Have you tried any of the civilization or tycoon games? Also the final fantasy games are turn based and don't stretch the gray matter too much.

You'd probably like Civilization. It's turned based and not real-time.

You should look into the diffrent games from SSI (http://www.ssionline.com/). They made great games for the C64 and the Amiga. I havent really checked their latest updates, but the General series was pretty good(turn-based war games). I used to play Panzer General on my PlayStation day and night a couple of years ago, even though it was a pain playing it w/o a mouse. ;P Im not sure about the networking capabilities, but almost every game has 'em now, so I'd be surprised if theirs doesnt.
