Apparantly Ebay is replacing some of its/or to be used MS software with IBM's J2EE stack. IBM is reported to have beaten them in some benchmark, though no details on wheather it was on closely related hardware. Notice they are only replacing some, not all the software/software technologies that they decided to use from MS. I know MS has been making alot noise about Ebays choice to use passport etc. but is the fact that there Middleware is not going to be used, a big deal(marketing or otherwise)? I was interested in your thoughts, though please try base it on technical/buisness merits not just pure opinions. Check out: http://theserverside.com/home/thread.jsp?thread\_id=8906

I hope they kick MS's ass. That is the best way to make sure MS keeps on improving their products. Tim Smith Descartes Systems Sciences, Inc.

Surely that works the other way round, too? David Wulff dwulff@battleaxesoftware.com

I remember seeing something from IBM extolling the virtues of DB2 over SQL Server. They benchmarked DB2 on something like a 16 node linux box against a single processor SQL Server. It surely wasn't an apples to apples test.

...please try base it on technical/buisness merits not just pure opinions Wouldn't this go against the spirit of the lounge?
