Looks nice :-D. Just make sure you don't do what I did with my first digital camera, leave it in your trouser pocket and watch it go round in the washing machine! Ant. I'm hard, yet soft.

Me too. My first real camera was a Canon EOS 630 which i got back in 1990. I started strong but found carrying it around too much hassle - haven't touched it in years. I'm hoping that the smaller form factor will allow me to take more 'spur of the moment' pictures. There are a number of things i'd like that the camera doesn't have: - lower ISO (only goes down to ISO100) - threded lens to accept filters (really, how hard could this be for them) - raw/tiff support - aperture/shutter priority But i've forced myself to focus on keeping with the intent of the purchase - to keep it as small and functional as possible so that i'll actually use it on a regular basis. If i really need/want all the other stuff i'll get a bigger/better camera to lug around. Looks like i'll be doing another road trip from San Diego to Toronto at the end of Oct. so hopefully i'll get to put it through its paces. ...cmk Save the whales - collect the whole set

Awesome. I actually looked at one of the similar models, but ended up going with a Canon. Out of curiosity, did you order the camera from the sony site? I looked around a little when I got mine and ended up ordering it from Staples of all places; ordered it from their web site. They seemed to have the best deal on the model I got and it was free shipping.

how many pictures can you fit on that 1G card at 7.2 megapixels? Just curious. The more I look at that camera, the more I like it. Nice choice.

Although i haven't filled the card, or ever used a full battery charge, the spec's indicate that i should be able to shoot about 300 pics/charge and fit about 290 pics/1GB card. That's why i got a 1GB card - it matches the number of shots i can take in a single charge. The only reason i would go to a larger card is if i started using the camera for movies. No plans to do this. My criteria for chosing the camera : - smallest form factor possible, the T1, T3, T11 are smaller, but not as good with the battery use. - at least 3x zoom - at least 5MP - good reviews The only other one i was looking at was the Pentax Optio 750Z, which wasn't (isn't ?) out at the time. It has 5x zoom and can store raw/tiff format pics. I decided that if i really want that level then i'll get a DSLR. ...cmk Save the whales - collect the whole set

oohhh...is that covered in the warranty? I'm going to try to get a new memory card I think. I feel inadequate that I've only got a 128 mb card.... where have you guys found the best deals on stuff like this? I know cmk mentioned Amazon, but do you guys ever find any deals at the staples, best buys, and circuit cities of the world?
