Good Halloween DVD rental: Van Helsing

Great flick. It was not thought provoking, but it was wall to wall action, and Kate Beckinsale is major babe.
Being lectured by the president on fiscal responsibility is a little bit like Tony Soprano talking to me about law and order in this country. John Kerry

If you like Kate in that movie take a look at Underworld. :omg:

I never really thought much of Kate, until I saw Underworld that is. Didn't think much of her in Van Helsing, though that redheaded vampire certainly got my attention :-D

My only curiosity is... how did she move so well with her chest and waist tied that tight. I think this deserves a VERY close examination of the subject. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. darn boring movie ... I was expecting so much ... underworld was better ... at least for the Beckinsale factor. I watched " Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"; boy, ho boy ... that's one drugged induced movie ... still not sure if it was good, but at least it was entertaining... BTW ... is you ever come across "My Name Is Modesty: A Modesty Blaise Adventure" DVD, run, run fast, this is one of the worse movie ever made, about the same level as "battlefield earth"

I have to disagree. In my lifetime I have walked out during 3 movies. This floatsom being one of them. For me, not only was the plot structure weak, but even the individual scene structure was weak. In fact, it was so weak, that the actors looked pained speaking lines of tripe ridden dialog meant to bolster the weak structure. After the 5 sequence of "what-has-happened-and-what-is-going-to-happen" dialog exchange I gave up on this movie ever showing any intellegence and left the theater. Best, Jerry

Totally agree! I have seen Underworld three times. Gets a little long in the tooth (no punn intended :) ) towards the end, but overall it is an excellent move. Of course, I loved Van Helsing also! It was a little slow between the lightning storms and fights with vampires and werewolves. But Van Helsing, even though he is sort of a made up character is no limp-wristed hero.

As I said it wasn't thought provoking - but I would have at least stayed in the theatre for the special effects. I mean this movie got a real thrashing by the movie critics, so I didn't go to see it. But it was definitely easy on the eyes, when I rented it later on DVD.
