Don't know if this is Soapbox material or not ;P, but I just wanted to say what a top bloke Christopher Duncan is. I had a query regarding his website and is response was amazingly quick, helpful and polite. No wonder this guy has a great reputation. :vegemite: Jon
I bought his book, The Career Programmer [^], (excellent book btw.. I whole heartedly recommend it to anybody reading this post) a while back and at the time Chris had just installed some new store software on the site. I was having trouble ordering the book (Credit Card validation wasn't working due to some address weirdness* and the shipping cost was all screwed up. Anyway, I emailed Chris, he responded really quickly and even went to the local post office to check out shipping costs ( ) and sorted out the shop on the site straight away... even thought it was just setup and still being configured. There ain't many people who would go to that effort to help you out! Long story short, Christopher Duncan is a sound man, he's also a great writer, and he'll be getting a few drinks for free the next time he's in Ireland. Thanks C :rose: * <rant>We don't use post codes in Ireland... so anybody readin this post who is implementing any type of web form that looks for an address.. please realise that you piss off the whole of Ireland when they go to your site and you require us to enter in no existant post codes... nothing worse than seeing a red warning saying that the address and post code are invalid.. No they're not!!!! We don't friggen well use post codes!</rant> Regards, Brian Dela :-) Now Reading: Code Complete 2ed[^] by Steve McConnell

:-O Thanks for the kind words, guys. Just trying to make sure my friends are always taken care of like they should be. And there ain't no way I'm talking in public about what that Chihuahua does when he hits the pubs late at night. Now that would be soapbox material... :D Christopher Duncan Today's Corporate Battle Tactic Unite the Tribes: Ending Turf Wars for Career and Business Success The Career Programmer: Guerilla Tactics for an Imperfect World

You forgot the last checkbox: * Not posted by John Simmons (Outlaw Programmer) (sorry John) "Oh, I'm sick of doing Japanese stuff! In jail we had to be in this dumb kabuki play about the 47 Ronin, and I wanted to be Oshi, but they made me Ori!"
John is special. :) He kind of reminds me of Nelson in The Simpsons... ;) Ha ha! -- Weiter, weiter, ins verderben. Wir müssen leben bis wir sterben. I blog too now[^]
