Because she's republican? probably,because she has a phd? that would actually be a plus in my book. I think the make-up of the congress is what needs to change first, otherwise any non-white president am afraid wouldn't feel empowered and probably end up just a poppet. It wouldn't matter which party in congress has a higher percentage of non-white representatives but i think a much higher minority representation overall would be essential psychologically for the success of any non-white president. Minority representation would ( will ) improve if more and more of the minority become Republicans. However with Hispanics representing about 12.5% of the population and African Americans about 12 % and Whites about 71% it remains a matter of concentration of population. Since the majority of the so called minorities live in the South it would behoove them to align with the party that is in power in the south - the Republicans. As long as minority voters keep on blindly voting Democratic they are gonna have a problem. This will change over time as more and more of the population becomes non white but the majority of the increase in non white population will be hispanic and hispanics are much more in tune with Republican party than non hispanci minorities.
