I find it somewhat ironic that my VC shortcut is positioned on India. Thanks, Simey

These images come in 2048x1024 so they might not be exactly what you are looking for, but for my money, these are some of the best pictures of the earth around. http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom/BlueMarble/[^]

My desktop is currently this one[^] (WARNING: very large page), the lights of earth at night. It came from here[^] which has an astronomy picture of the day.

I use this[^]. It's not free, but can update the image periodically, showing current night/day zones, including lights in the night areas. It can also show the time in various places on the map. I quite like it :)

It's not Earth, but I used to use the program Phoon (short for phase of the moon, port of the X app xphoon) that generates an accurate picture of the moon and sets it as your background. Download here[^] (75K) if you wanna try it. --Mike-- LINKS~! Ericahist | 1ClickPicGrabber | CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | C++ Forum FAQ | You Are Dumb

I just wish there were globe images taken over Europe. Anyway, the globe images fits the standard XP theme very well. It also gives an eerie feeling of falling to the earth.
