Hey guys, Im looking to get a laptop after xmas and after a lot of thought have narrowed the choice down to 3. Anyone have any thoughts, opinions or use either the Asus W1000na, Toshiba Qosmio F10/100 or the Toshiba Qosmio G10/G00? Any good/bad experiences with them? Im in Australia and all 3 models have just been released. Asus is about $3500AUD, Toshiba F10 is about $4500AUD and G10 is about $5500AUD. Thanks N Land down under!

Not sure if it helps, but I really don't like Toshiba. Now your down to 2 ;P

This demographic will quite happily click on shiny things however:laugh:

Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

I'd look closely at Dell. They provide great service here in Oz and very good pricing with specials all the time. Don't much like Tosh. Neville Franks, Author of ED for Windows www.getsoft.com and Surfulater www.surfulater.com "Save what you Surf"

I once worked for a company where all of the company-issued laptops were various Toshiba models. Personally, my Satellite decided on at least two occasions (may have been more, I can't remember) to spontaneously apply a BIOS user password of its own accord. Obviously, since the machine made up its own password, it was unusable. In order to regain control, the BIOS had to be flashed. Toshiba acknowledged that this was a problem with the BIOS, but has no solution or work around. In talking to the tech support guys, the horror stories of supporting them were numerous. I heard everything from burned-out LCDs to hard disk crashes were common. The experience soured me on Toshiba, so my advice would be to stay clear. Of course, we could have just had really bad luck. Your milage may vary. :) --Jesse
