Alright, I'm looking for a book that can help with my transition from Windows programming to Linux programming (KDE and/or Gnome). Is there anything out there?

Have you already gone through the "KDE Application Tutorias" included in KDevelop documentation? The near-official book on KDE is "KDE 2.o Development" by David Sweet et al. (Sams Publishing, ISBN:067231891) It's also available on-line

I've been going through Sams "Linux Programming in 24 hours" and "Linux Programming by Example" from Que publishing. Most of the KDE stuff looks pretty intuitive. There's all the docs for it with KDevelop, integrated kind of like Visual Studio. Of course you can always use emacs...and write yer own makefiles... X| Josh josh@that-guy.net

I can't really attest for how good this book is, but from what I've read in it, it's not too bad. I've had to drop linux programming and focus on Java for a while now. BTW, as of September 12, I'm a Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, woo hoo!!! Anyway, the book is Beginning Linux Programming 2nd Edition. http://www.wrox.com/Books/Book_Details.asp?sub_section=1&isbn=1861002971&subject=GNU%2FLinux&subject_id=46 Jason Gerard, Master of Kung Foo
