Does anyone know of installation software priced for hobbyist? I'm not looking to develop the next great "APP" but some things I would like to release doesn't warrant me to invest $400 out of my own pocket for installation software (i.e. Installshield, Wise Install). Does anyone know of a good sub $100 install package that will handle the installation of COM, ActiveX, and EXE files onto other computers? Nothing fancy required. Doing inhouse software I never had the need to purchase an installation package, however, just trying to distribute a COM object I just found out the install shield for Visual C++ 6 doesn't support that :-) Thanks in advance for any advice. I can reccomend you a great installation package. It's called Inno Setup, and you can download it from www.jrsoftware.org. It's very easy to use, yet very powerful for what you need. Best of all, it's free! Cheers, -- LuisR -------- Luis Alonso Ramos Chihuahua, Mexico www.luisalonsoramos.com

I like the price :-) I'm d/loading it now and will let you know what I think, but it already has a lot riding for it since it's FREE! Plus I have never ran a DELPHI program on my computer ;-) I'll keep you guys informed on how it works out for me! Sam C ---- Systems Manager Hospitality Marketing Associates

I've personally found it very fast, light-weight (only about 60 KB or so last time I checked), simple to use, and free?? what else can you ask for?? source code?? Well, you get it too!! (although in Delphi, I don't know if that counts :)). -- LuisR :bob: -------- Luis Alonso Ramos Chihuahua, Mexico www.luisalonsoramos.com

I like using NSIS from Nullsoft. Its also free. You just write the script for the install and compile it into an exe. Nice thing is that it comes with the full source too. Steve Maier, MCSD
