Got my new PC
-
Well, actully I just upgraded my old one ;P. It's sweet:
- Athlon 64 3500+
- 1GB DDR400 RAM
- 120GB SATA WD HD
- 17" LCD + 15" CRT (already had the CRT)
It sure makes a difference to my previous Celeron 900 + 256MB RAM + 20GB HD. It's not top of the range but will suit me nicely :) Installing Windows on the new HD was a pain. The RAID drivers on the motherboard require a driver for Windows setup to be able to use them (otherwise it can't find the hard drive). There are drivers on the CD that came with the motherboard for creating a driver disk, but for some twisted reason, the included program to create the disk requires Windows to be able to run. So basically, you can't create a driver disk to install Windows unless Windows is installed. Seems a bit stupid to me, but anyway... Thankfully, I had a boot disk (well, actually I made sure I did before I started ;)) so I could boot into DOS1 and copy the drivers manually from the CD to a disk so I got setup to work. Unfortunately, due to the hassles with drivers, the evening was rather unproductive, and I didn't even get Windows installed until this morning before work (I got up early  ). It all seems to be working properly, so now the fun can begin :) 1 In case you're wondering, I couldn't boot into my old copy of Windows because it kept loading the wrong motherboard drivers and rebooting the machine instantly. Very efficient

Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.
