bigpond web host ?$?

I've been looking for a web host to set up simple shopping cart/ SSL . e.g. a typical price for one of the multitudes that seem to exist in the U.S is AUD$22/month => $264/year (e.g. web66.com which has all of these things - (supposedly I've never used them)). I looked at bigpond 'webaction', and added it up to be $2475/yr when adding SQLServer7 and SSL. My question is , is something like web66 a bodgey, or is bigpond mega-expensive, or am I missing something? Regards, Rob

Bigpond = Telstra = scum, scum, scum. They are the ones who introduced a 640 MB limit on ADSL briefly, before realising they would lose ALL their customers overnight. Now it's 3 Gig, including traffic in BOTH directions. Telstra are the pus-monkeys who told me when I tried to get ADSL I couldn't because I owe them $300. Basically when I was a sales rep I cancelled my Telstra mobile, they sent me a disconnection notice, I called to say it WAS disconnected, they said no, it was not. They sent legal demands for payment, which I passed on to our Sydney office, and which eventually stopped. Apparently they sent a court date to a home address I had not been at for years, as I had gotten a PO Box, but they don't send legal notices to PO Boxes ( not that they tell you ). They THEN passed it onto a debt collector, who is clearly a moron, given that I am the only Graus in Hobart. When I called to ask what the problem was and was told all this, they suggested I go pay it at a local Telstra office. I suggested something involving no offices, but an orifice. The similarity was lost on them, I think. Long and short, do not deal with Telstra. Their share price is falling because competition is making extortion harder for them, but they still try. No WAY is this my only, or even my worst Telstra horror story. Christian As I learn the innermost secrets of the around me, they reward me in many ways to keep quiet. Men with pierced ears are better prepared for marriage. They've experienced pain and bought Jewellery.
