Charity advertising question

Some or most of you already know that I adopted 3 children from Ukraine in August of last year. While I was there, the man in charge of helping my wife and I mentioned a charity that he had started, and I offered to help him with his web site if he ever needed it. So, he recently asked me to help him get more viewers for his page, and I'm not really sure how to go about that properly. (Maybe the CP effect will be enough? ;)) Anyway, here's the link: http://adopt.kiev.ua/?tmp=angel[^]. I plan on linking to it from my adoption-related blog, and I made sure that Google is capable of finding his site, but it's far down the results list. What else can I do to give him a hand? John

One would think that you'd get little to no result through improving search engine results, what sort of search would you target ? I would think that the best way you could help is to generate publicity locally, see if you can get a story in a newspaper, for example. However, this could backfire - the editor might decide a story on unknown charities and the risks of your money going to the mob would sell more papers :-) It sounds like a great idea though - although one would think that the cost of postage would greatly increase the cost of helping them this way, as opposed to sending money. Christian I have several lifelong friends that are New Yorkers but I have always gravitated toward the weirdo's. - Richard Stringer

Admittedly, I am biased, but I couldn't help but think that if someone was going to go to the time, expense, and effort to do this -- they should just adopt the child. Someone's heart strings are going to get tied up through this sort of thing, and severing the connection could cause problems... John

That doesn't normally mean "the government won't let you adopt them", but rather "no one ends up adopting them", because they are "too sick", "too old", or something. John

I am curious, you say you adopted them, you mean they are living with you as your children, or that you supply them support every few months as the "Adopt an Angel" program appears to be setup?
