I have just bought a Sony DVD +/- RW Dw-D22A, which is supposed to record anything but DVD-RAM. I was wondering, what are the diferences betweeen all those formats? which one should I use? This recorder is Dual Layer. Which type supports DL?? I appreciate any help. Thanks, Matias Szulman

I felt that the '+' media are a bit more reliable, but this can be only placebo effect. :) DVD-R and DVD+R work like a CD-R. DVD-RW and DVD+RW work like a CD-RW. The only format that is really different from the anything else is DVD-RAM (which you don't have, anyways), that can be formatted to FAT32, and works exactly like a 4GB hard disk. Yes, even I am blogging now!

DVD+ holds a bit more data than DVD- because the disc has more than one layer. This might help.
