In the last 2-3 months I read an article in a CPU mag, I think, showing a device that will log your power usage. Basically you plug it in between your power cord and the wall. Unlike an ammeter the thing can actually record the power usage over a given time. It was selling for about $45. I've been looking through piles of magazines here and can't find the article.

Thanks for the suggestion. Though, I already have an assortment of equipment. I am looking for something that anyone can use. Basically, my father wants to be able to plug this thing in to a wall outlet and then plug an appliance in to it. I'm afraid to give him any kind of volt meter. I really don't want him plugging probes into sockets or that kind of thing. There was a device, I saw somewhere, that measured true RMS. It gave you the ability to see the KWH used while the device was plugged in and for how long. There was a cost button on it that calculated how much it cost per hour/day/week/year.
