Bloggers and CV's

I'm thinking of applying for a real job, rather than another contract. My blog is about software development in the main but nothing special that says "must hire". Would you put the URL of your blog on your CV? Given that your prospective employeer will probably google for your name and maybe find it anyway? Is it better to be up-front that you are a blogger or would you keep quiet until you've got the job and found out their company policy on blogs? Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

If you think the content is relavent and shows your knowledge and skills then I wouldn't see anything wrong with adding it. It may also help to give a deeper picture on what are all about beyond what they can see during an interview. Michael P Butler wrote: found out their company policy on blogs? I can't imagine any company would have a policy regarding blogs. Except for maybe not updating them while you are at work. BW

Lots of companies have now got policies and it is always better to ask, especially if your blog is about the subject you do as a career - which mine is. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

If I had a blog (and I've been meaning to get into it) I would imagine it would be useful. On my CV I included links to my own site (whilst it still had content), and included a link to the my articles section here too. -- Paul "Put the key of despair into the lock of apathy. Any company only has a right to protect their interests in regard of your blog. What you say, without leaking company IP or being disloyal, is entirely up to you. His hands felt the grasp of strong white hairs, and he knew he would not survive this fungus.
