Opening port error message in Windows XP

Hello, I have windows XP, When i click on "Connect" button of dialup connection with internet, it displays a message "Opening port", and after 10 minutes computer becomes hang. What is the problem? kindly tell me the solution EsHbAn BaHaDuR
There are might be many problem or area that you need to check about this systme: 1. Try to test a new connection whether it could connect successfully or not. 2. Make sure the user name and password is correct. 3. An IP address of the connection point to the server is wrong. 4. Make sure that the device driver of modem or network card is enable or install correctly.
