What's it about April?
-
Last April, I had two attacks of viral fever over a 3-week period. Now, it's April again and here I am suffering from sinus trouble, cough and sporadic attacks of fever. Could it be the heat? During April (which I believe is the hottest month in Trivandrum), temperatures rise as high as 35 degrees C. My head feels heavy that even a 15 degree turn of my head makes me groan and every time I groan I start coughing too. Summer-time sucks!!! X|

It's unlikely to be a viral infection unless many people are similarly affected in your area - more likely it's caused by allergies at this time of year. Everyone here - except me - has been terribly afflicted because of all the unseasonal rain we had this winter, and the unusual blooms resulting from it. Pollens and spores we are not used to abound right now, and they're hitting everyone with symptoms similar to bronchitis or pneumonia. Chest pain, uncontrollable coughing, difficulty breathing normally... I admit, I was knocked down for one day - very rare for me - but for most it lasts about three weeks, and for a few it comes back later. Get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and try antihistamines and decongestants for a week or so. If it is viral in nature, don't waste your time and money taking antibiotics - lots of quacks here are taking in loads of cash prescribing them, and they absolutely have no effect on viral infections. I hope you feel better soon, Nish...:rose: "If it's Snowbird season, why can't we shoot them?" - Overheard in a bar in Bullhead City

Nishant S wrote: I am trying to avoid a doctor Good choice. Have you ever thought about the fact that it is in the best financial interests of doctors to keep you ill enough to keep making appointments, but "cure" you often enough to make you want to come back? Just because I'm paranoid doesn't preclude the possibility that they really are out to get me. "If it's Snowbird season, why can't we shoot them?" - Overheard in a bar in Bullhead City

I think Roger could be right about the allergies. Consider this Causal Loop (1.) ->Nish has allergic reaction -> + Nish's immunity system fights allergic reaction -> - Nish's ability to fight viruses drops -> + Nish is affected by viruses and maybe bacteria -> + Nish immunity system fights viruses. -> - Nish's ability to fend off allergic reaction drops. (GoTo 1) You can change this around a bit, but it is probably similar to why on wet days people are more likely to catch a cold or flu, eg there immunity is lower. Maybe you could look like a real nerd and start wearing a Michael Jackson type face mask everywhere. Or better yet get a Darth Vader looking one. :-) Good luck mate. But has Nish had the same symptoms sgsin over the last 12/18 months and if so can he relate them to any stressful time(s) and if so can he see a pattern in them :suss: John Hudson Megan Forbes on Life's little accidents: Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night:~ :omg: http://www.rainbow-innov.co.uk[^]
