I came across a url that had the IP 212.172.112.254.45 in it. I assume this is an IPv5 address but I didn't think IPv5 was used anywhere. Could it be an actual address or has someone just mistyped the url? SuzyB If I had a better memory I would remember more.

They skipped IPV5 and went straight to IPV6 (I don't think there's any such thing as IPV5). ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

Probably a typo, might be ...254:45 which would denote it as port 45, otherwise depending on the size of the network I would be most suspicious of the .254 unless we are talking an internet url or a very large corporation network (by large I mean alot of computers) since the maximum segment of IPv4 address is 255 Matt Newman

As Some Networking Books States , IPV5 never come out of Research LABS. So it's not Possible to see IPV5 address working anywhere!. May be IP mentioned by you 212.172.112.254.45 is 212.172.112.254**:**45 i.e. connected to 212.172.112.254 at port 45
