America Airlines Plane Crashed
-
A plane has crashed in New York. From Sky News... It is now understood the plane was an Airbus A300 and suffered engine failure shortly after taking off from JFK airport. Early reports said the aircraft was a Boeing 767 - the same type which crashed into the World Trade Centre. The jet was heading to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic when it came down in Queens, in the south of the city. There are reports the plane hit a number of buildings near Rockaway beach. Security chiefs said there was no evidence of terrorist activity but all airports in New York have now been closed as a precautionary measure. A huge plume of smoke is rising above the New York skyline as the wreckage burns. The Dow Jones dropped 200 points as news of the crash reached the markets.

I hope to God that this was an accident. I hate to think of the consequences if this was something other than an accident. Hasn't New York suffered enough. Michael :-)

Even though there is no evidence available yet, it does look like it exploded in air suggesting a bomb. Date and time does suggest some relation to Sept. 11 as well. If it was not an accident I hope somebody do something with those idiots in FAA who keeps ignoring all the warnings about the aviation security for ages.

They are saying now that the pilot was reporting mechanical difficulties before the crash. So maybe it was simply an accident. Not that it would make any difference to those involved I suppose. One way or the other, that is still a lot of people. "But, daddy, that was back in the hippie ages..." My twelve year old son - winning the argument. it does look like it exploded in air suggesting a bomb. That is a wide assumption. Many, many things can cause an aeroplane to exploded, especially during takeoff. Date and time does suggest some relation to Sept. 11 as well. Yeah, if you add the digits of the plane model, then divide by the passengers, and finally multiply by the modulus of the onboard fuel in tons divided by the pilot’s age, you get eleven... It’s called coincidence. (and a bit of bad timing) David Wulff, Founder of The BLA dwulff@battleaxesoftware.com [100.9977:Dave] New's flash - Bob caught in kitchen incident.

You are right - without any evidence available anything anybody says about it is just an assumption. We shall wait and see what the experts come up with.

There was nothing EVER EVER reported that pointed to terrorist. Once information about what was going on, it became obvious it was engine failure. 1. Pilot called in a mechanical problem. 2. Engine was seen on fire during takeoff 3. Pilot dumped fuel in preperation to come around and land or crash. Of course, there is still a chance of terrorism, but everything points to just a simple engine failure. Or Bin Laden is training afgan birds to fly into engines...
