hahaha true true, I can't view the URL from here (im at work, we cant have internet access), What was the cause of his death? I heard some cases were staying alot infront of a CRT monitor can cause serious damage man like epilepsy (or how the heck u write it) when i mean long i dont mean 3 or 4 hours on a timespan of 1 year but actually glued to it. I know some people which spend all day infront of their pcs playing games, and now with all the craze on world of warcraft latlely the number has grown. These people are actually damaging their selves. I mean i do like gaming and the reason i dont play much is becuase i dont have time for it, but i do moderate my play time, when im on leave or shutdown i spend a whole afternoon playing but on the rest i really don't have any time. Gaming kills, Kills your personality mostly. Regards, Luke

Gaming kills... though he must have had some sort of pre-existing condition. I've also heard that some internet cafes drug the water to keep people awake and gaming. Not sure if there is any truth in that. Man dies after gaming marathon.[^]

It is a real problem. A friend of mine some years ago now played a PS2 game for about twenty hours with only a couple of breaks for the toilet and water and when he had finished, he managed to walk up some stairs and then collapsed, unconscious and with a nose bleed, at the top from exhaustion. He didn't feel physically exhausted, but his body obviously disagreed. But then five-six years ago I have played games through the day, sometimes crossing the 24 hour mark - Age of Empires was way to addictive - and I never had any problems. I guess there is some medical weakness for exhaustion that affects some people. The guy in the news article quit his job to play games so it sounds like he had a much higher level of involvement/obsessment with them than I did.

Not sure if there is any truth in that. perhaps, perhaps not. I don't know about drugging water, but I doubt it, such things are too easily caught. Some internet cafes do carry caffinated water, which is a choice sponsored by and approved by the customers. As far as the mammoth gaming sessions. I had an Atari gaming console back in 1981 if I recall, I went for the record on Missile Command. Silly idea. I stayed home "ill" and after everyone left for work/school, I started. After nearly 8 hours of adrenalin, still going on the game, my family came home, to see blood running down my face. the adrenalin had burst blood vessels in my nose. Rather than say gaming kills, say adrenaline kills. He overdosed on adrenaline, when he came off his heart failed. Marathon runners build up for the distance, those that don't have had health problems for the same reason and some have died. You can't "healthily" decide today to just go for a marathon session of anything wether it be gaming or marathon running/swimming/bike-riding. If you don't work up to it, it'll kill you. We know the dangers of steroid abuse, yet adrenaline abuse is easily ignored because it is part of your body's natural process... and yet, it can kill just as easily. Proper marathon runners or gamers train themselves to go the distance. If you don't you pay the price, sometimes the ultimate price. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. One day two groups of rival S Korean gaming cafes got into a heated argument in the streets over a Kill/Item steal during a big raid. The people poured out into the streets to continue the arguments. During the argument they decided that it wasn't their fault, but the fault of the game maker. Since the ISP bunker that housed the game servers were just down the street, they decided to riot. When they got to the ISP bunker, they tore down a telephone poll and started ramming the reinforced doors. They gave up before they broke in, but DAMN, talk about being a risk to life and limb to work on MMORPGs. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

From the article: "We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone.

New Mexico Car Crash Statistics in 2003 439 people died in a New Mexico car crash in 2003. Car crashes cost the New Mexico 1.413 billion dollars in 2000. Alcohol was involved in more than 4 out of 10 of New Mexico's car crash deaths. Also, speed was a factor in 39% of New Mexico car crash deaths, costing the state 259 million dollars in 2000. Among all motor vehicle fatalities 323 were passenger vehicle occupants. Of these, 8 were under 5. More than 6 out of 10 passenger vehicle occupants killed had no seatbelt or child seat, including 6 children under 5. Of 36 motorcycle rider deaths 27 riders were not wearing their helmets. New Mexico ranks first in the nation for pedestrian deaths per capita. In 2003, New Mexico was ranked the sixth-worst state in the nation for alcohol-related motor vehicle deaths per capita. (down from 5) In 1992, New Mexico ranked first in the nation for crash deaths per capita (according to the NM department of transportation) You are 38% (at an average) more likely to have a crash in NM (fatal or not) than anywhere else in the USA (combination of boring roads, bad roads, high DWI rate, high pedestrian rate, high wildlife rate) happier? _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
