Wierd, asking a question about gmail on CP. Hope I don't get flamed! ;P The question is, how do I send/receive exe/dll files? It seems gmail blocks them, and I can't figure out how to unblock, or if this is even an option! Which, if it's a hardwired "feature", makes gmail quite a bit less attractive to me. Marc My website

I zip my files, then rename the result in a ".zap" file instead of ".zip" This way, gmail does not complain about security issues associated with executable files embedded in the .zip files.

Use WinRAR. Gmail doesn't seem to like zip files either. I haven't had any problems using rar plus it's easier to split large files to 10MB chunks.

Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

All the formats you've listed except rar are scanned by gmail and blocked if they contain executable attachments.

I rename the file extension and use this  GMail Drive shell extension[^] for sending multiple files.

Actually, you can get a list of the files inside a zip without the password, so it might see the .dll or .exe inside the zip, and refuse. You only need the password to actually extract the file from the zip.

You could still them by renaming them to foo.exe.dat but I'm sure you've already thought of that. :) /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Music | Articles | Freeware | Trips ravib(at)ravib(dot)com
