At last, after many months wrestling , swearing , throwing tantrums X| , swearing , swearing  and swearing some more , I've finally beaten my wireless network into submission and got it to work with my notebook. So right now, I'm sitting out in the garden :rose: enjoying the sunshine  and playing around with all those coding projects I've always wanted to have a go at but have never had the time. :-D

Strange, I've never had any problems with Wi-Fi configuration. Always turned it on and it just works. What difficulties were you having?

The desktop would sometimes display the wireless network and other times it wouldn't. The notebook would never display any wireless networks. Being a terminal techie, I tried playing around with various settings and configuration options before relenting and attempting the blatently obvious :sigh:. I finally decided to ignore the manual. Since I'm using devices both upstairs and downstairs, the manual reckons that the router should be placed at the highest point. I moved it downstairs and now evertyhing connects instantly with full signal strength. When will I ever learn?

Yeah, I have my AP downstairs with my BBand router. Then I find I can use my Powerbook all over the house and to a degree outside aswell. The signal strength, and therefore range, on 802.11b stuff isn't amazing I find.

I opted for the Belkin Pre-N[^] as it promised 800% the wireless coverage and 600% the wireless speed of 802.11g. Whether or not it does, I couldn't say since I haven't used 802.11g. I do know that it's very fast, browsing the web is a lot faster than using a LAN cable connected to the 100Mb network. It works just fine out here in the garden (I might wander down to the pub in a bit and see if it works there ;) )
