    I'm thinking about making a project in java because of portability but is there any evidence that the .net framework will be truly portable, like would anyone come out with a framework for other platforms, are there any attempts, i still haven't started the project that much and I would like to use c# better but if the supposed .net framework portability feature is just a theory then i will sadly have to use java :( IM PROUD TO BE A GMAIL;

      Mono runs on Linux, and Java is crap. What's the point of having a BAD UI on more than one platform ? Surely Lotus Notes taught us that ? However, Mono does not have a UI component AFAIK. If I wanted to write a portable app, I'd write the business logic in C++ and recode the UI natively on each platform, so that it took advantage of the features of each platform.
