I'm moving into a new house in a couple of weeks time and I have the option of dumping my cable modem connection (which I've been mostly happy with but I doubt they'll be willing to give me another "introductory" rate just because I've moved) and getting broadband over powerlines with Current Communications (in partnership with Cinergy, the local power co.) Has anybody else tried BPL out? Is it worth me trying it? The price is pretty good and they throw in the first month free and a free modem.

It's all the way you talk with the company that is offering you service. I have a friend that was on a cheap DSL. There was a better plan in the area 3mb cable. He called the dsl company up and told him he was going to switch. They offered him a 7MB dsl for the same price. He's paying less then 15 bucks a month. ;) Good luck. Alex Korchemniy

In fact it should be Soapbox material!! I'm paying almost $200 a month for a 64k connection. I can go cheaper and faster, but then im stuck on a 3gb cap a month. :sigh: :((:((:(( xacc-ide 0.0.15 now with C#, MSIL, C, XML, ASP.NET, Nemerle, MyXaml and HLSL coloring - Screenshots

Actually I already had the cable company beat down on a combo deal for digital cable + HBO and Showtime + cable modem for about $85/month for a year after I bitched them out when I signed up for the cable modem and they stopped the previous deal I had on digital cable because they insisted they couldn't combine offers. I thinking I tell them I'm considering satelite and BPL when I call them to cancel my current service and see what they say.
