As a non-smoker (and one exposed as a child to cigarette smoke almost constantly from parents and relatives X| ) I quite honestly wouldn't care if they cost more than anyone could afford... That won't happen for a long, long time simply because the government makes a lot of money out of it. I'll wager they make more than it costs the NHS to treat smoking-related diseases. I've given up and I've never felt better. Roll on a ban in pubs as it'll mean less tempation for yours truly. :)

In Germany its about 44 Renminbi (17 cigarettes for 3,80 Euros)

I've never been exposed to smoke much, partly because nobody in my family smokes and partly because I didn't have any smoker friends at college and school. So the fact that I'm not used to it, coupled with my *highly* developed sense of smell, gets me into trouble now. :( The other day I sat in a hotel's lounge and started sneezing at once. The reason - the previous occupant of that chair had smoked and left a stub in the ashtray. X| Cheers, Vikram.

I don't know what a camel cigarette is, but I think you can get a single cigarette for Rs 2. :~ But then, I could be wrong - I've never held a cigarette in my life. Cheers, Vikram.

Four bucks (4 US Dollars) a pack. Little over 5 bucks for tin of Kodiak Chew. You will find cost of tobacco products varies a lot from state to state as each tax differently. The government makes a lot of money on tobacco products, wouldn’t surprise me at all to learn the government makes more taxing it than the manufactures / growers do. ------------------------------- DEBUGGING : Removing the needles from the haystack.

Unfortunately, where I live, cigarettes are relatively cheap (if you're an addict it doesn't matter anyway). I'm an anti-smoker, and I wish for years that those prices go sky high like in some other european countries where smoking is luxury only the wealthiest can afford. Besides, I don't understand how stupid can one get, doing something that kills him each and every day and thinking (s)he's cool with it. I often refer to smokers as suckers.
