Live webcam
-
Ok, its been few months since I started working at my new job and I have been given a project that I dont have a clue about. I am required to develop and application that broadcast live webcam to an asp.net webpage. I need to use C# as my language. I read an article about capturing images from a web cam but it wasnt for live webcam broadcast. If someone has already done something like this or read about please help me. It seems like a job threatening project :((

Wow... and that was less than $40. How much does he pay his developers for a day's work? A week's work? Seems $40 would be a bargain.

I know... His argument was, "If we have an app of our own we can use it when we want where we want, insted of keep buyin a product over and over". But hey! what can you say -- he is the BOSS -- right?!?

Hmmm... well, actually I think I would say something like this: "Boss, I think you should know these points: 1) - if we purchased this app, we could use it when and where we want, as the licensing for it supports such; 2) - we could develop something like that in house; I would estimate it would take xxx months, and we'd have to devote the development resources to it and away from other priorities; 3) the purchase price of only $xxx.00 compares very favorably to the ultimate cost in time of developing this in-house; 4) for the specific project you had in mind, we could be up and running in a matter of days if we purchased xxx application rather than months. Of course, it's your call, but I wanted you to have all the facts" And of course, before saying anything like this to my boss, I'd want to first see that the product in question could deliver and that I could reasonably adapt it for the project at hand.

Sounds fair. I will research on the product and try to talk him into buying it and save my butt ;) Thanks for your help.
