Sadly I don't think I'm geek enough to upgrade my notebook HD:( I'm afraid I'd get one that isn't compatible. What model laptop do you have? ------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done.

Personally I think happiness will be the day I can replace the nearly full 80GB 4200rpm drive in my laptop with a 500GB 10,000rpm one, but then I always was an idealist... ;P Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. The advantage of having poor spelling, but a poet also.... you are always in doubt if the spelling mistake was a mistake or deliberate. :-O thus the later reference to 500gb 15000rpm drive. ;) _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. But SATA II offers hope that eventually 15000rpm hard-drives may make the desktop market.... of course their price, limited size, and incredible heat makes them limited in application. But hey, I didn't list price in that list before. ;) _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. The 21.3 inch Samung 213T is pretty near nirvana, especially for $700. Of course now I'm holding out for the 30" Cinema - unless Samsung comes out with something cheaper ;)... Tom Ollar blix: more native than native

I got the Travelstar 100Gb 7200rpm - not sure of the model number but I think there was only 1. It's great. Battery life is (obviously) reduced a little, but nothing painful, and it's a little noiser (in that I can actually hear the drive now, whereas the previous was silent) but I'm very happy. cheers, Chris Maunder

Startup is definitely quicker, as are VS2005 builds. However, I up'd RAM from 750Mb to 1.5Gb at the same time so that's helping things too. cheers, Chris Maunder
