I must say that this is an amazing advancement since the 5.4 release. Didn't like the last month rc1 of 6.0 cause of conflicts, but maybe it was cause i was running it under ms virtual pc, then again I do that with any rc or beta of anything. I tested this latest release today on msvpc, and the conflicts I encountered before aren't sparking up. So I can say I'm ready to update my freebsd 5.4 system up with the latest release. I was wondering the experiences of anyone here who is a freebsd user and what your opinion is on this new release.:) http://www.freebsd.org[^]

Pity it's 2 cd's, I'm a bit bandwidth challenged, I see theres a boot CD too, but not sure what to do from there.

Can you post on update on how it goes. I am thinking of doing an upgrade of an older release. I guess most devs here would stay away from it as it is lagging behind in the support of Java[^]/C#[rotor is noncommercial AFAIK]

              > Is it safe to assume its a server of some type rather than your desktop? That may be a bad assumption. I used FreeBSD as a desktop system quite successfully, a long time ago. I doubt it has become less useful as that since then. -- Pictures[^] from my Japan trip.

Depends what kind of desktop. When I last used it, it was not really good for multimedia, games and such things. However, as a development environment, it is very good.

Well, many developers use other programming languages, but even for C#, there is Mono for FreeBSD[^]
