    I have Install XP Pro severval times on the same machine w/ same hardware config and in the same way on computer one and two(which have diff hardware types but XP installed and worked on them both). Now something is wrong w/ computer 1 because the Install freeze when it get about 30% when XP setup is coping temp files to harddrive from CD after asking if I want to format, convert, or leave drive alone(not always the same file or % each retry that it freeze). The hard drives were fdisk then DOS formated (no other OS was install) then I rebooted and Autoran the XP CD. The problem only occurs on computer 1 and still fully installs on computer 2. What is going on here? Real World Coding:      POP& BuyAPop(Money ADollar){...};

      Did you sneeze by any chance? That's known to prevent XP from installing :-) More seriously I think the DOS fdisk must have changed your HDD serial number Nish Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut

          No, I didn't sneeze and why would DOS fdisk must have changed your HDD serial number because an old SN isn't stored anywhere. It may not be the CD-ROM because (I forgot to type down that I also installed NT4 with the same computer and CD-ROM afterwards so I could try to Install XP form the NT4 Desktop). If you really want to know, then try swapping some hardware and reinstalling on both until you find what is causing the problem. Christian I have come to clean zee pooollll. - Michael Martin Dec 30, 2001
