Just to be sure you know - I didn't get it, and saw no actual combat. Although, I did serve aboard the flag ship of the task force that went in to de-mine Haiphong Harbor in North Vietnam which was technically a combat mission as we were in enemy territory.

I said non-ground combat. There were not a lot of volunteers for being a grunt - although they did exist. Not all the draftees went to Vietnam in any case, they also served in Korea, Germany, etc. Almost any slot for officers had numerous volunteers available, as an officer's career is greatly aided by combat experience. Also slots that were numerically limited, such as river boat duty, pilots, etc, were full of volunteers. Since Bush obviously had no intention of making a career out of the military, it isn't all that surprising that he wouldn't volunteer. "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

Actually, it was Clinton that did that for me. I can be president and screw all of my interns in the public eye (while I'm supposed to be doing my job), lie about it, and still get re-elected! What a disgrace. Every teen-age boy in America wanted to be president at that time.

If you really are 15 then you are a lot further along than I was when I was 15. When I was 15, I was a left leaning crybaby. I took years of living in the real world to realize that my thinking was way off. I've read your posts, you seem to be on track. But of course, that is just my opinion.
