Another Norton stupidity

I saw the Norton rootkit thread below, and it reminded me of another Norton thingy I found really stupid this last week. Norton is incapable of responding to double-clicked Office documents within Explorer UNLESS you keep the shortcuts in your start menu folder just as Norton set it up. (See this document for more info.) For an app that stuffs your registry to an extreme, this seems like one of the stupidest programming things I have ever heard. (If they weren't so heavy in the registry, I could possibly understand it...) It made me really think whether I want to keep using Norton when my subscription ends... What do you mean *another*? I've been waiting for years for them to change it from Norton Internet Security to Norton Internet Stupidity. I've got rubber dog turds that will do a better job protecting your PC (while keeping it useable) than that crap coming out of Norton. I decided long ago that Norton was the AOL (pronounced AOHELL) of security which is to say... Well wait a minute what exactly is AOL anyway? I still can't figure that out. I've seen it, kicked it. Looked like crap, smelled like crap but people call it an experience. The fact people still pay for AOL is proof that the world is full of idiots. But I digress we were talking about Norton right?:laugh:

The other day I finally managed to get, a friends PC using Norton, to be able to connect to anothe PC on his network. It was 'easy' once I found out that disabling Norton may do many things but it does NOT disable the firewall! You need to set the IP addresses of the PCs for them to be allowed through the firewall. Perhaps Norton have found a new definition of the word 'disable'?
