For basic directX in native C++, try Teach Yourself Game ProgrammingWith DirectX in 21 days by Sams, it goes through the steps in making a fully functional, 2d RPG using DX 9.0. For managed / a more 3d approach try "Beginning 3D game programming", also by SAMS.

Hi I have an "old" book from Academic Service called Teach Yourself DirectX 7 in 24 Hours by Robert Dunlop, Dale Sheperd and Mark Martin ,(ISBN 90-395-1494-1), my copy is from the year 2000 so there must be a reprint: http://www.accu.org/bookreviews/public/reviews/t/t002332.htm[^] ;) With friendly regards, Eric Goedhart Skype: eric-goedhart Deep in the fundamental heart of mind and Universe there is a reason. -Slartibartfast

A very useful book is "Managed DirectX 9" by Tom Miller. ISBN: 0-672-32596-9 I recommend this book if you plan to program with C# or Visual Basic .NET Barkley71
