The East Indies would be the Indonesian archipelago. Cheers, Vikram.

??? Asian Indians are usually referred to as Eastern Indians - because, even though the PC term for American Indians is Native American, in places like Canada, they are still referred to as Indians. And places where they are given land and housing are called Indian Reservations. I didn't mean Indonesians! Regards, Nish

I recently found out that Indians are Caucasians too - colored Caucasians maybe, but Caucasian.

Does that encompass all Indians? I've heard in India there are 'white' Indians (Aryans?) that look more like caucasians and are suppossedly of higher caste than dark-skinned Indians. Do Indians have problems with racism within their own country? From my own experience even southern Indians consider themselves different from northern Indians. As Vikram said, most South Indians are Dravidians (again a sub-group of Caucasians). While the average Dravidian Indian is darker skinned than the average Aryan Indian, in reality, the coloring is pretty well balanced throughout the country. There are dark skinned Brahmins (upper castes) and there are fair skinned lower castes. Regards, Nish

Refer any dictionary. Wordweb says 'East Indian' is an inhabitant of the 'East Indies' and the 'East Indies' refers to the Malay/Indonesian archipelago. The 'American Indians' or whatever is the fancy term for them in the current political climate are not Indians at all; they are American aborigines. Cheers, Vikram.

I've made fun of and/or ridiculed americans, indians, paskistanis, iranians, venezuelans, iraqis, egyptians, arabians, africans, german, australians, norwegians, danish, canadians, mexicans, spanish, chinese, russians, english, french, rednecks, yankees, cowboys, politicians, lawyers, muslamics, catholics, jews, protestants, mormons, gays, straights, transexuals, whites, blacks, browns, olives, apples, carrots, potatoes, spam, cows, ducks, geese, cardinals, Windows, Linux, Macs, OS/2, C++, C#, Pascal, all of the basic food groups (including liquid paper), and lions and tigers and bears (oh my!). At the same time, I honestly can't recall saying anything about anybody because they were any of any of those things (well, except maybe Windows). I have fun at everyone's expense, and if someone is acting like a retard, I'll ridicule them for it - regardless of their race. EDIT #2: I also claim the right to make fun of any aspect of said retard that I feel might garner the most laughs from people with less/no humor-blocking stick shoved up their ass. Hell, I'm not even a bigot, even in the broadest of terms. In short - If you're stupid, it's not necessarily because you are from a certain country or race, and there's nothing I can do about it beyond pointing it out. EDIT #1: Maybe I should put this in my bio... I typically don't edit once voting has started, so I thought I'd mention that the 2nd edit occurred AFTER the first two 5 votes. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 -- modified at 13:47 Monday 6th February, 2006

And you do it very well, generally. Your comments make me laugh most of the time.

Subsidiary question, do you accept that others might make fun of you? Are you able to make fun of yourself?

I thought they were now called Pakistanis. Wasn't Pakistan the western section of India at one time?
