"Security Rollup Package". Love it! Microsoft have released a new patch - er, update, er, service pack, no, I mean security rollup package for W2K that covers all known security issues since SP2. Get it while it's hot. I assume the usual suspects will point and laugh if this is already common knowledge. cheers, Chris Maunder
Everyone has figured out what 'service pack' really means, so they had to go and change the language. Perhaps this is what Bill was talking about in the 'security is top priority' letter. It will take me so long to download it that by the time I download it I'll have gotten feedback on the patch :-) Nish Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut
By the time you finish downloading Win2K will have joined DOS in the bit-bucket Fixing Microsoft bugs must be a lot like herding cats...

I was giving Nick Hodapp (MS VC++ PM) a hard time the other day and he threatened to insert
#ifdef CHRIS_MAUNDER
random_crash(SEVERITY_TERMINAL);
#endifito their code. And I thought he was joking :rolleyes: cheers, Chris Maunder
I've known about the random_crash() function, having found it in use in many products, especially popular GUI OSs. Thanks for sharing the correct syntax, Chris:-D I've found a reliable way to prevent all user-induced errors! It executes from the Run= key in the Registry, and immediately restarts the PC!
