Let's say a small private school here is wanting to offer web-based courses to individuals across the U.S. I was thinking they could use something like NetMeeting, but I've learned that its video conferencing is only point-to-point. They would have one instructor and 10-20 students a few times a week for an hour or so each session. Many companys use WebEx, but I'm not familiar with pricing and options there. After doing some googling and surfing, I decided to ask the vast intelligence that is Code Project. Any suggestions, good/bad experiences, advise? If you are wanting to do video conferencing with it, then WebEx is great. And everyone doesnt have to have a video camera either. You just need a phone capable of dialing a 800 number. I looked into developing some online training at my company, but we decided WebEx worked well. Its also good because the instructor can involve the students in the lessons during the course through the use of shared apps. Like a community spreadsheet for example that everyone or selected people can edit. Its also not very expensive. They charge on a per use basis or subscription. They have constant free demos that you can call into and talk with one of the people there.
