Maybe this link has been on the Lounge already, but I've been offline for about a week. Here it is. Some neat tidbits. CodeGuy The WTL newsgroup: over 1100 members! Be a part of it. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wtl

Microsoft quoted some 3rd party studies that say that there are about 3M C++ programmers out there (compared to 5M VB programmers and a whole lot less Java programmers). LOL, any opportunity to diss Java. From a 3rd party survey of VC++ customers, Microsoft found that 90% (!) of them will be doing the same or more VC++ work in the future (about 22 hours/week). They also found that about 75% of VC++ users are MFC programmers (which isn't growing) and 35% of them are ATL programmers (and is growing) Whats the stats like here on CP in re: to ATL and MFC? Cool article CodeGuy. So, Microsoft is the leading vendor of C++ tools, and 75% of Microsoft's customers use MFC. CodeProject welcomes ~300,000 developers a month... It's hard for me to believe that only 15-20% of C++ developers (assuming every CP visitor is a C++ Dev, which they aren't) see value in all the goodies here at CodeProject. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for this to be true, but these #'s just aren't realistic. Maybe I should ask Chris to help me with the math. ;) David http://www.dundas.com

I didn't know the ~300,000 CP devs a month, ( how reliable is that figure) If the 3M figure was true, what % would be Students enrolled in IT courses. OR what % of the MS sales are academic type versions. The 5M VB programmers I do find believable, but still high. Regardz Colin J Davies

Naah. That VB programmer will be totally confused when the compiler says "Syntax Error". You used parenthesis in the call to MsgBox which requires you to catch the return value. Strip the ()'s or assign the return value to a variable. Isn't VB lovely? ;)
