I'm no master, quite average.. but still.. he's 6 !! ok, I made silly moves -- was not in the mood, but he did win. reminds me this great quote from the Simpsons I think the saddest day of my life was when I realized I could beat my Dad at most things, and Bart experienced that at the age of four. I'm so proud of him :) Denevers -- modified at 7:18 Friday 3rd March, 2006 Fixed the grammar in the title -- thanks Paul (now all the replies are wrong.)
That's priceless! My Dad taught me to play when I was about 8 (I think), and it took me ages to beat him. I discovered I loved the game (enough to make the school chess team briefly), but in recent years I've not kept up with it (lack of opponents, mainly!). I'd love to teach my eldest to play (he's 7 1/2 now) but without direct contact (or even telephone contact) it's just not going to happen. :( Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. I heard it is possible for two people to play over the internet (I am not a chess player or chess lover).[

I know you have a difficult situation with your son but are even letters to him and from him banned? It might be a push at the age of 71/2 but chess-by-mail might work. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry! K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

Never played chess with my dad. :sigh: Only with my mum and my PC (and they win always). :~ ___________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. My Blog [ITA]

Anyone sees Family Guy here. There's an episode where Peter finds out that Chris has a bigger body part than he does, and competes with him at everything, ferociously in the rest of the episode. Regards, Nish

Heh - and I thought my daughter (just turned 5) was doing well because she plays dominos well and can handle the strategy required to play puzzle games like Chuzzle and Jawbreaker! :) Congrats - great work! Peace! -=- James

It is, but I prefer the face to face approach. Preferably with a nice bottle of something next to the chessboard, and two glasses. Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. doI was able to wirte to them for a while, but not directly...it's a long story. I've pretty much resigned myself to waiting for them to contact me when they're older now. DeleteFXPFiles & CheckFavorites (Please rate this post!)I started teaching my son at 5 (and my dauther which was 7 then), the rules of chess are not terribly complicated , just a few basic movements and a few rules. The challenge is the enormous number of combinaisons from those basic rules. The rest is gaining experience. Kids learn faster that we old farts do. If fact, domino might be a bit more challenging because the kids needs to count, which is not required at chess (unless you count points) Denevers

Thanks hun. :rose: Most of the time I try not to dwell on it and focus on the good things in my life instead. When I don't succeed in that, it can be absolutely devastating though. Once you become a parent, that instinct never leaves you. :rose: Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. Yeah probably lol! However, if he was being brought up in my home area 50 years ago it would be more likely to be Newky Brown (a.k.a. The Dog)[^]. That stuff even scares me, and I'm old enough to know better than to tangle(foot) with it. :~ HSB[^] is far, far safer. Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up.
