Web services all the way?
-
Hey all, I'm in the process of thinking about developing a website, and I'm wondering what the advantages/disadvantages would be of using web services for all communications between the front end and the back end? For example, on piece of the site would be a Blog. So the RSS feed(s), Post entry, searching, etc would all be handled by a 'blog' web service instead of just handled though the post back. the 'idea' about this would be to allow for updates to the system from anywhere, no matter what the front end is set up to look like or do. the core functions would still be the same (like an API) Thoughts/comments/suggestions? (I'm just thinking though the idea.. no code has been written) I learned while asking a question a while ago I've got a lot to learn about ASP.NET 2.0, so I thought I would ask the experts. thanks!!! ---===/// The PogoWolf \\\===--- http://www.pogowolf.com GamersVue: http://GamersVue.blogger.com http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rockingchattingpsp/ -- modified at 9:41 Friday 10th March, 2006

Check thos book out http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1590593901/ref=cm_bg_d_47/104-9850252-9836764?s=books&v=glance&n=283155[^] Also look at WebSphere. The only problem is web services don't support true transactions. although you can simulate it. But, web services just fine 1 line of code equals many bugs. So don't write any!!
